A comfortable home as a base for exploration of the Island

John Graham C

“The house is rustic in nature, well equipped with modern essentials and very
well set up for a short stay holiday. The kitchen was generously provided with the basic food essentials and cooking appliances etc. and the beds were comfortable. The home is set in beautiful surrounds by the lake and you can rest and chill out, wander the grounds or use it as a very convenient base to explore the rest of the Island. We had a wonderful time and good memories.”

Island Delight

Jill2003, Australia

“This is a peaceful place to take a break well of the beaten track. having lived on an Island similar to Kangaroo Island but smaller, I really enjoyed a chance to experience island life again. Even the black swans on Pelican Bay reminded my of my 7 years of Island life. The Cottage is comfortable but may be cold in the winter so bring some warmer gear for the colder months. it is lovely to sit out on the deck with a bottle of wine and eat a lovely meal of fish caught out from Emu Bay. The house has most thins that you would want although I couldn’t find a hairdryer, which surprised me given that the even had glad wrap in the kitchen. The house is a bit off the main road but this is the beauty of this place. It is surprising to find that there are only a few reviews here. it is very hard to find on Trip Advisor which might be something that the owners could look at fixing.”

Family holiday

Virginia F

“We have been fortunate to stay in the very comfortable Ratcliff Cottage, ,although it does have 4 bedrooms, hardly a cottage. It is close enough to the action to have a very busy time, I.e. Beaches, markets, winery’s, and/or peaceful enough to do absolutely nothing. We sailed the boat to American River to catch crabs and listened to the porpoises plopping in the lagoon and the fresh oysters we bought from American River were to die for.. Just a beautiful place for a real holiday”.

Pelican Lagoon Secluded Paradise

“This is a wildlife paradise. Ratcliff Cottage on the Pelican Lagoon Aquatic Reserve was just what we needed after a busy year. It was so peaceful and quiet, we really felt like we’d got away form it all, without a neighbour in sight and just the wildlife to keep us company. It was right on the water, with views from every room. Tastefully appointed, and super comfortable beds. Plenty of kangaroos on the property, they were a big part of our morning and late afternoon entertainment. Really appreciated the thoughtfulness of the owners, the kitchen was beautifully equipped, with pantry staples. Loved the rustic feel with all the mod cons, and watching flocks of birds tracking across the lagoon.”
